Get Orb for Mac

For Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 14 or later

Everything you open, in its place.

Orb is a free browser for the Mac. Your tabs live in a sidebar, sorted into Spaces, and the window around the page gets out of the way. The interface is native, written in Swift, and Chromium renders the web underneath.

Separate by default

A new Space keeps its own history, cookies and sign-ins, so work and home stay apart. You can link it to a profile you already have instead.

Pinned stays, Today tidies itself

Pinned tabs and favorites stay put. Today tabs you haven’t opened for 12 hours move to the Archive, and one undo brings the batch back.

One swipe away

Swipe sideways on the sidebar to move between Spaces, or press ⌃ 1 to 9. Each one keeps its own color and icon.

Two keys do most of the work.

Press ⌘ T and type. The command bar searches the web, opens a site, jumps to any open tab or Space and runs any of Orb’s commands by name. Ask it for a unit conversion or a sum and the answer is waiting.

Open the command barSearch, open a site, or jump to any tab.
Hide the sidebarPress it again to bring it back.

More than one page at a time.

Up to five tabs, side by side.

Drag a tab onto the page or press ⌃ ⇧ =. Lay the panes out in columns, rows, one large and two small, or a grid, and drag a pane by its handle to swap it with another.

Split layout

Look before you leave.

Shift-click a link and it opens in Glimpse, a card over the page you’re reading. Links to other sites from your pinned tabs open there too. Press esc to put it away, or ⌘ O to keep it as a tab.

Quick trips stay quick.

Links from other apps open in Orbit, a small window of their own, so a link from a chat doesn’t land in the middle of your work. Press ⌘ O to move it into your sidebar, or ⌥ ⌘ N to open one yourself.

Restyle any site.

Open a site’s Tweak and change its colors, flip it to dark, swap its font, set the text size or zap the parts you never want to see. Go further with your own CSS and JavaScript. Tweaks follow you to your other Macs, and you can share one with a link.

October afternoons run short and warm. The best hour for a walk starts about ninety minutes before sunset, when the low sun turns every field amber.

Your browsing stays yours.

Orb blocks ads and trackers, and warns you before known malicious sites load. It gives fingerprinting scripts slightly wrong answers, strips tracking tags from links and asks sites not to sell your data. Your history and cookies stay on your Mac, and there’s no account to sign in to.

38 filter lists, on from the start

Ads, trackers, cookie banners and malicious sites, filtered by a built-in engine before the page loads them.

A new fingerprint every launch

Canvas, WebGL, audio and font checks get answers that change each time you open Orb, and differ from site to site.

No account

Nothing to sign up for. There are no ads, and we don’t sell your information.

No access logs

Orb’s servers are in Germany. Our web servers keep no access logs, and we don’t store your IP address.

Your Spaces on every Mac.

Sync keeps your Spaces, tabs, favorites, Tweaks and, if you choose, passwords and passkeys the same on every Mac you add. It’s end-to-end encrypted, so we can’t read what you sync, and there’s no account or email: a six-digit code adds a Mac.

A 24-word recovery key is the only way back in if you lose every Mac. We never receive it, so keep it somewhere safe.

Bring your browser with you.

Orb finds the browsers on your Mac and brings over what’s in them, one click each. Importing happens on your Mac and sends nothing to us.

From Arc

Spaces, tabs and favorites, then passwords and history.

From Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi

Bookmarks, then passwords and history.

From Safari

Bookmarks, then history. macOS asks you to allow Full Disk Access first.

And the everyday things, done well.

Passwords and passkeys

Save passkeys in Orb, sign in with one on your phone by scanning a code, or use a USB security key.

Capture

Press ⌘ ⇧ 2 and drag to grab part of a page, or capture the whole page top to bottom.

Library

Archive, downloads, history and the images, videos and PDFs you’ve saved, searchable in one window.

Mini player

Leave a tab that’s playing and a small player appears in the sidebar, with Picture in Picture one click away.

Memory Saver

Tabs you haven’t looked at for a while go to sleep and wake when you return. Anything playing or sharing stays awake.

Extensions

Add extensions from the Chrome Web Store. By default Orb fetches them through its own server, so Google sees neither your IP address nor your list.
